An idea is born and the journey begins!

February 6, 2012 – As a mother of a son, and a teacher in a boys school, I know first hand that physical activity helps boys with focus issues.  So, in an effort to squeeze a little workout into my long day teaching and tutoring, I ask my after school students if they are interested in running 10 minutes each hour after school (we are there from 3:00-6:00).  A rousing YES and we are off and running!  It is clear from day one, that I am in over my head and so out of shape after surgery and chemotherapy, but that doesn’t stop me!  I set my personal goal to run a 5k in May, 2012.  I begin slow, 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there.

March 12, 1 mile in under 15 minutes!

March 18, 1 mile in 12:40!!!

March 25 – 3 miles in under 40 mintues, 39:54!  Can I run a 5k sooner than May?  With my new found confidence I register for a 5k on April 15 and set a personal goal to finish in under 40 minutes.

“This is the beginning o…

“This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind…let it be something good.”
